Give the full thread designation
Thread diameter alone leaves the pitch, form and tolerance unresolved. For pipe taps, include the required pipe-thread standard as well as the size. For trapezoidal, buttress and other special profiles, a dimensioned drawing makes the requirement clearer. State whether the hole is through or blind, the required thread depth and the workpiece material.
