Product description
Wire thread insert taps prepare the internal thread required by a specified wire insert system. The finished screw thread designation is only part of the information needed: the insert specification and installation requirements must also be known. Confirm the selected insert, workpiece material and hole geometry before defining the tap for a repair or production job.

Why an STI tap is not an ordinary tap of the same nominal size
STI means screw thread insert. The tap cuts a larger receiving thread in the parent material, leaving room for the wire insert. After the specified insert is installed, its inside forms the intended screw thread.
For example, an inquiry for an M12 × 1.75 wire-insert system refers to the final screw size and pitch. It does not mean that an ordinary M12 × 1.75 tap will prepare the receiving hole. The STI tap and pre-drill requirements come from the insert system. This example explains the naming convention; it is not a listed FuRui size or stock claim.

Separate insert length, full-thread depth and drill depth
These dimensions serve different purposes. Insert length describes the installed insert; the fully formed receiving thread must support it. A blind hole also needs room for the tap’s lead-in and the required chip clearance. Do not set the drilled depth equal to the insert length without checking the system’s preparation drawing.
Specify the insert part number or standard, final screw thread, insert length, workpiece material and blind/through-hole condition. Include the required receiving-thread gauge or acceptance specification: the receiving thread is checked before insert installation, not treated as an ordinary finished screw thread.
