SELECTION GUIDE

Specify the tooling before requesting a quote.

A complete request connects the machine, tool and workpiece. Follow these four checks to turn a broad product name into a model, dimension or drawing that can be reviewed.

Identify both ends of the holder

Record the spindle taper and retention details, then the cutting-tool connection. FuRui’s R8 ER holders list M12 or 7/16-20 UNF drawbar threads. For an NT machine, compare the NT30, NT40 and NT50 ER holder families and confirm the drawbar connection separately. For BT tooling, check the machine’s required pull-stud type as well as the thread. Haas’s tooling reference illustrates why taper and pull-stud checks are separate.

Describe the actual cutting task

State workpiece material, tool diameter, cutting operation, intended spindle speed and coolant route. For tapping, add thread size, pitch, hole type, depth and machine tapping cycle. The BT-GT holder table lists chuck pairings and dimensions; it does not establish a speed, torque or compensation-stroke rating for the assembly.

Critical geometry

Check the dimensions that control access

Show the workpiece, clamps and usable space on one drawing or annotated photo. Keep overall length distinct from a table’s L1 dimension. FuRui’s YTR01 T-slot cutter lists D32 and MT2; YTR02 lists D40 and MT3. Changing cutter diameter therefore also changes the listed connection. Check the full row and source drawing.

Verification

Agree the model and supplied items

List the full ordering code, quantities and every separate component. For an ER holder request, specify nut and individual collet bores. The ER32 catalog family covers 2–20 mm across multiple collets. If the mating system is unclear, compare ER and R8 collet connections before selecting the bore. Identify the dimensions to inspect and the required report; record agreed limits on the quotation or approved drawing.

Useful files to send

Use dimensioned drawings for fit-critical geometry and photographs for identification. Mark units, drawing revision and any dimensions measured from a worn sample. The following files support different parts of the review.

Machine details

Machine model, holder markings and spindle drawing. For a replacement ball screw, add nut mounting dimensions and the end-machining drawing.

Part and setup

Part drawing, material and setup photo showing fixtures. For a special tap, include the complete thread callout, usable depth and through- or blind-hole condition.

Order details

Quantity by model, destination, delivery requirement and packing needs. State whether you need individual tools, replacement parts or a set with specified contents. Use the fillable RFQ checklist (PDF) to collect the details offline.
